I love to dance!

The other day while Mya was playing she found her tutu and brought it over to me so I could but it on her.  Then she went to her toy basket and found her ballet bear and started dancing and twirling with it.  It was so adorable I just had to document the moment on film and on this blog!  She really loves to dance and it is so much fun to watch her.  I love my little dancer! :)

Most popular babynames for 2007

I just wanted to share with you that the new social security most popular babyname lists for 2007 are out.  Just click here to see the lists.  For those of you that know me you know that I LOVE babynames and all names in general so when this list comes out each year (around Mother's Day) I am in heaven.  I love to see if new names made the list and what names moved up or down spots.  (Just an example of how much I love names - I always go down the babydoll isle at Target or Walmart just to check out the names of the Cabbage Patch Dolls!  I'm telling you it's an obsession.)  So, if you ever want to discuss babynames I am so your girl!  I would love to chat with you. :0)

Just to get you started here are the top 20 Boy and Girl names for 2007.

M-I-C-K-E-Y.....M-O-U-S-E!!

So, last week we took a little vacation to one of my favorite places - Disneyland!  Seriously, I love, love, LOVE it!  This was Mya's second time and I have to say she was lovin' it too.  It was so fun to watch her having so much fun.  We got to meet alot of characters and go on alot of rides and we all had a great time.  We can't wait to go again! (**Warning***  There are ALOT of pictures coming up so get ready.  We got a fun new camera so we were having a hayday taking pictures of everything - and I mean everything!  We took over 600 photos just at Disneyland!  But don't worry, I didn't post all of them. :0) Also, you can click on the pictures to make them bigger - I wouldn't want you to miss out on Mya's cute face!

Day 1:

Mom & Mya waiting in line for the Playhouse Disney show.  Mya loves to watch Playhouse Disney in the mornings.  Her favorites are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny and My Friends Tigger & Pooh.

Mya showing off her dancing skills before the show begins.

One of Mya's favorite rides was the Carousel.  We had to ride this many many times.

Mom & Mya riding on a very pretty horse.

Dad & Mya riding on a very pretty horse.

Dad & Mya saying goodnight to Disneyland.

Day 2:

Dad & Mya flying on Dumbo and waving to Mom & Grandma.

Sometimes Mya loves to squeeze my face really close to hers.  I love it when she does this!

A Bug's Land is so much fun for all the little bitty kids.  And it proved to be a perfect land for Mya.  She thought this place was really great.

Mom & Mya riding on Heimlich's Choo Choo Train.
Grandma, Mom & Mya riding Francis' Ladybug Boogie.  This ride was so much faster than we thought it was going to be.  We all got a big kick out of this one and our faces show it!
Mya & Daddy having some fun!

Riding another carousel.  This one is over at California Adventure.  It's King Tritons Carousel so instead of horses it has fish, dolphins, seals and other sea creatures - so cute!
Watching the parade.
Day 3:

We got to do a meet and greet with Chip N Dale.  I thought Mya might be a little scared but she actually really loved them.

Our family with the Chipmunks.
She liked them so much she even sat on their laps.
As we were leaving the meet n greet Pluto came by so we snapped a few pictures.
Mommy, Mya and Woody.  Mya has really been loving Toy Story 2 lately so seeing Woody was a fun treat.
Our family with Minnie Mouse another favorite of Mya's.

Mya taking a break while we wait in line to meet Pooh!
When it was our turn to meet Pooh I put Mya down and she ran for Pooh and gave him a BIG hug and she held on to him for a long time.  It was so darn cute!
Still loving Pooh!
Pooh giving Mya kisses.
Pooh, Mya and Mommy.  I love this picture of Mya she is posing just like Pooh.
Mya also loved Eeyore and his big fuzzy ears!
And Mickey's house.
And meeting Mickey!  Mickey was so cute he was giving Mya nose kisses.  We love Mickey!

And here we are with Goofy - he's such a silly guy!
And that about wraps it up.  The End!

Oh, what a beautiful day!

Not only was yesterday Mother's Day but it was also Mya's first day in nursery.  So it was an extra special day for us!

The day started out so nice when my sweet husband made me a very yummy breakfast of waffles with fresh fruit, whipped cream and syrup - mmmmmmmmm!! And he even cleaned up after.  Thanks babe for making my day so nice.  It was truly a beautiful day!
In our ward for Mother's Day the Priesthood takes over the Primary and Nursery so that all the ladies can meet together for 2 hours.  Because of this Brandon got to go with Mya to nursery.  He said it took her a couple of minutes to warm up to it but after that she was loving it.  And when another little kid would cry Mya would go over and hug them and pat them on the back as to say that it would be ok.  She is such a loving little girl and she acts so grown up!  I love her so much and I am thankful everyday that I get to be her mommy.

In honor of Mother's Day I just want to give a shout out to all the mothers out there that have influenced my life and for that I am truly grateful.  Thank you for being such wonderful examples to me.
Thank  you to my Granny - I miss you and love you!
Thank you to my Mom - I love you so very much!
Thank you to my Mom-in-law - you've always been so wonderful to me.
Thank you to my sisters - I'm so lucky to have 3 beautiful sisters.  And best of all you are my friends.
Thank you to my sisters-in-law - you all have taught me so much.
Thank you to my dear friends (you know who you are!) - you have always been there for me.

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's day!  I Love you.

Latest project

So, I've had my eye on this cute picture (green one with the daisy) from Pottery Barn Kids for awhile now.  I've looked at it so many times I thought it seemed like something I could totally do myself.  So I gave it a shot!

And this is how it turned out.  Pretty cute!  I made a few changes like adding the cute little ladybug and the canvas is a bit bigger than the PBK version.  I really like my version and it looks super cute in Mya's new big girl room (more on that in another post - we converted her crib into a toddler bed.)  Mya really loves it and it was a lot of fun to do!

So, since this project went so well I might just start another one and try and copy these.
(But these might take me a little bit longer.)

A couple of projects, a visit from the Sperrys & some random events

So I've been awol for awhile now.  I just really haven't felt like blogging.  But lucky for you I've finally gotten my bloggin mojo back so get ready for a long one!

Alot has been going on at our house the past few weeks.

First project: The backyard
We (when I say we I really mean Brandon-heehee) finally finished our backyard!  YEAH!!!  And it looks great!  Mya loves its and we get to play in it and enjoy it everyday.

Brandon working on the backyard.

Mya loving all the new rocks to play in and throw.

A view of the patio.
2 of our very cool palm trees.

Brandon worked very hard in the backyard.  He planted every bush, tree and shrub all by himself.  He also installed landscape lighting so the yard looks really pretty even at night.  He had a little help with laying all the landscaping rock and lighting (thanks Aaron and our new friends from south of the border) but besides that he did it all himself and it looks great!  Good job babe - thanks for working so hard to make our home look so nice!

Brandon & Aaron working on the lighting.

Second project: Mya's bathroom

I've had this shower curtain for over a year with the intention of painting Mya's bathroom.  We finally got around to it a couple of weeks ago.  Brandon painted the entire bathroom a nice sky blue then I came in and painted grass, flowers and cute little bugs all over.  I still have more flowers and bugs to paint and I want to do some clouds on the ceiling so it's still a work in progress but I think it looks cute and Mya loves it.  She loves to point at all the bugs and flowers and she gets really excited about it - very cute!

I am not an artist at all but I did freehand everything.  And I have to say that I am pretty proud of myself! :)  Good job Bonny!

Isn't this bee so darn cute?  Love it!

Next up: A visit from the Sperrys

Last week my sister, Nancy, and her family (husband: Sean & kids: Sydney, Colin and Taytum) came to visit us from Utah over their Spring break.  We had so much fun with them and were so sad to see them go.

The first night we had a cookout in our newly finished backyard.  Brandon BBQ'd some babyback ribs and a brisket and he also made dutch oven potatos -mmmmmmmm good!  Mya had so much fun playing with her cousins and she loved all the attention!
We also got to do alot of shopping and eating out and a little swimming while they were here.

Sean, Mya and Taytum.  Sean was trying to get Mya to pat her head and rub her tummy at the same time.  They were also playing a "bonk on the head" game with her.  Mya thought Uncle Sean was funny - but the rest of us think he's just a big goof ball!

Sydney - isn't she a pretty girl?  I just love her!
Taytum - the baby of the family, so cute and sweet.  She loved chasing Mya around, picking her up and giving her lots of hugs.  We love you Tay Tay!

Mya running around the yard with Tay and Colin.

Brandon just hanging out.  He worked really hard on the yummy food.

Mya and Aunt Nancy
Colin (Isn't he so cute, he's also very funny and he always smells nice!), Syd and Sean just chillin'.
Mya modeling Colin's baseball cap.  So cute!
We went shopping at this really cool outdoor mall called Town Square and they have a fun play area for kids.  Mya saw this stage and ran right to it, got up on it and started dancing.  It was so funny and so cute.  I think we might have a little star on our hands! :)

Mya showing everyone her hat.

We also got to go swimming at the pool where my sister was staying.  It was pretty windy that day so Mya didn't get in but she looked super cute in her swimsuit!
Mya dancing and having lots of fun!
I wanted to get a group picture of Mya with her cousins before they left but she didn't want to cooperate so this is what I ended up with.
Luckily this one turned out really cute.
Thanks Sperrys for coming to visit.  We had so much fun!  We hope you can come again soon.

And finally:  Mya's first time trying fry sauce, playing in a baby bassinet and a playdate with friends.

Mya LOVES fry sauce!
My mom gave Mya this baby Moses basket - Mya loves to put her baby to sleep in it and sometimes she gets in too! :)
I watched 2 of my friends kids the other day.  Isaiah and Kate.  Kate is 3 months older than Mya and Mya just loves her.  She kept giving her hugs and she would grab her hand and try to take her all over the house.

Playing in the backyard on Mya's slide.
Mya and Kate hanging out at the wagon.  We took a few wagon rides around the yard.

And that about raps it up!  Hope you enjoyed. :)
