Just like Julie Johnson's hair

I know that most of you (only my family) won't know what the title of this post means but I will explain.

The Johnson's are friends of my family and Julie was a good friend of my oldest sister, Nancy. Julie had the most beautiful, long, thick, curly, auburn hair. I always thought if I ever had a girl with red hair I would want it to look just like Julie's. I think I got my wish!! I'm in love with Mya's hair and it seems that everyone else is too.
I can't leave the house without getting a comment or a dozen comments about Mya's hair. People seem to be obsessed with red heads. I've even had a lady chase me down in a store just so she could tell me how beautiful Mya's hair is. Seriously, she chased me down. I was in Costco and it was very busy. She had to dodge a lot of people to get to me. Others love to tell me how their grandkid/cousin/sister/brother/nephew/niece/childhood neighbor has/had red hair. Some people think that all red heads look alike. I once overheard a girl say to her red headed coworker - "That's what your kid would look like if you had one." The comments aren't even limited to girls or ladies. I've had men comment too. An older man once told me that his lovely wife had beautiful hair just like Mya's. I thought that was cute of him. Now I don't mind these comments but when people ask me crazy things like "is that her natural color?" I just want to say "WHAT?" Really people, she's only 2! And then there are some that like to tell me that a lot of people pay a lot of money to get that color and how lucky she is to have such pretty hair.

I've done some online research about red hair. It seems that both parents have to carry the right gene to have a child with red hair but it's not always a given. I always knew that our chance would be extremely high due to Brandon having red hair and I have LOTS of red heads on my mom's side of the family (my grandma was one!) So, my question to all of you is "Do you think our little boy will have red hair?" I'm going to put up a poll on the right side of this blog just for fun and then in about 4 weeks we will find out!!

(Oh, and just so you know - we have narrowed down our names but won't officially name "baby boy" until he is born. We like to keep it a surprise - I think it's more exciting that way!!!)

Now vote and leave a comment! :)

4th of July!

Ok, so I'm finally posting about our 4th of July - ACK!! Sorry to those who check my blog on a regular basis for the lack of posting. I will try to do better! :)

First of all, I LOVE the 4th of July! It is my favorite holiday - it has been since I was a little girl. I remember always having so much fun with my family going to the city park in Monett, MO for all the festivities. They always had lots of fun games for kids, entertainment, food and a great playground and of course the fireworks. We would set out a blanket early in the day to get a good spot to watch the fireworks. Lots of fun times!! I hope that my kids will love this holiday as much as I do.
This year we went to Kanab, UT for the holiday. It was really fun. We hung out with family, watched a fun parade where Mya got lots of candy, went swimming, had a BBQ and watched fireworks. What more could you ask for?

Grandma and Mya before the parade started.

I thought this picture was so cute! Mya and Nathan holding hands! Mya adores her cousin Nathan!

Mya posing.

Mya and Daddy

Mya checking out her candy!

Mya and cousin Britnee. Britnee was so great and helped Mya get lots of candy!

Mya with Grandma & cousins (Makenna, Will - not really her cousin - he belongs to my sister-in-law's sister, and Amber)

Cousin Landon (Mya and Landon are only 2 months apart), Grandma & Mya

A funny old car!

We love parades!!

In case you were wondering if...

you could live off of chocolate milk?

This little girl does! So I guess the answer is YES!
She doesn't eat much but she sure drinks a lot of chocolate milk!
Maybe milk really does a body good! :)

Another Disneyland Trip!

So, it had been awhile since we last visited the Happiest Place on Earth. Ok, I know - we go there often but in my defense it is one of my most favorite places to be and I was starting to have withdraws. Seriously! And this was to be the last trip to D-land before the baby so it was a special (last visit being an only child) gift to Mya. Next time we go we will have 2 kiddos - YIKES!! Although being pregnant wasn't ideal (my body still ached a few days after we got home) it was still a really fun trip!

Seeing Pooh is always a treat! Mya absolutely LOVES Pooh! She still talks about Pooh and how nice he is. I'm telling you it's all LOVE for this hug-able bear!!

I'm in LOVE with this picture! So CUTE!!

She was much more shy with Tigger. At first she didn't want to go near him. I had to hold her but eventually she warmed up - although you can't tell by this picture! (Please ignore my chubbiness!)

Seeing Mickey is always FUN! We LOVE Mickey!

Waiting in line to meet the Fairies in Pixie Hallow. It is such a cute place - everything is HUGE so you feel like you are Fairy sized.

Mya chatting with SilverMist. She was very nice and Mya loved talking to her.

Talking with Tinkerbell. Mya loves her too! Tinkerbell was so sweet with Mya. I thought these pictures turned out so cute!

We had to wait a long time (and Mya had a pretty big 2 year old melt down) to meet these next few princesses but it was worth it.

Meeting Jasmine.

And Cinderella! Cinderella was also so sweet with Mya and she talked with her for a long time. Mya was in HEAVEN!!

Mya and Ariel. Ariel wasn't as chatty as the other princesses but Mya didn't care she still thought Ariel was great!

Mya definitely is my daughter! She is a big roller coaster fan just like me (and Brandon too)! She LOVED the roller coaster in Toon Town - I think she rode it 4 or 5 times with Brandon. She now does an impression of a roller coaster with her hand and she makes a zoom zoom sound. (Click on the pictures to enlarge so you can see Mya and Brandon better!)

Getting ready for another ride!

Waving to mom.

Going super fast! Mya's face on this ride says it all - pure enjoyment!!

Here we are meeting Pluto. Again, Mya was a little timid so I had to hold her again. (Like before, please ignore my chubbiness!!)

So, there you have it! Another fun and exciting trip to Disneyland. It was great to get away as a family and just be somewhere that we love so much! Mya is still talking about Disneyland everyday and can't wait to go back! We didn't take very many pictures this time which I'm pretty sad about (I didn't even get a family one - bummer!!) I guess we were just having too much fun!

It may be just me but...

I think my little bro

bears a striking resemblance to this guy.

Kobe Bryant

Only little bro doesn't have the nice tan!! :)

What do you think?

Why I love Mother's Day!

This picture was taken last year.  I forgot to take one this year.

Getting a pedicure!

Going out to eat for dinner!

Getting a bouquet of flowers from my sweetie and beautiful baby girl!

Waking up to find more beautiful flowers planted in my planter outside so I can enjoy them every single day - so pretty!

Going to Church and hearing talks on mothers.

Getting to spend the next 2 hours of Church with all the women of the Ward in a Visiting Teaching lesson.

Getting to eat a yummy brunch at Church - yes, at CHURCH!!  Salad, breadsticks, grapes & strawberries, mint chocolate brownies and lemon squares! YUM!!

Not having to teach Primary!  The priesthood & Young women took over the entire Primary!

Receiving a card with sweet and loving words that I will treasure forever from my honey!

Taking a nap!

Having a yummy dinner made by Brandon - hamburgers and dutch oven potatoes!

Eating that dinner outside on the patio and enjoying the nice weather.

Getting lots of hugs and kisses from my sweet little girl!

Feeling my baby boy move inside me more and more!

Enjoying time with my sweet family!

I hope all of the Mother's in my life (my Mom, my Mom-in-law, my Grandma, my sisters, my sisters-in-law & my wonderful friends) had a wonderful day too!  I LOVE you all!

Silly Mya!

In an effort to get rid of my prego picture (ICK!) at the top of my blog I thought I should do another post.

So, here is a Mya funny for today!

This morning while Mya was in her room "playing"  I wondered why she was being so quite.  After a little bit she comes running into my room with a HUGE smile on her face and giggling.

This is what she came in wearing.

She had gotten into some of her old baby clothes and decided to try them on.  This is actually a swimsuit coverup and it's a size 6-12 months.  I thought it actually looked pretty cute as a "shirt" and it made me wonder if there were other things in her baby wardrobe that I could get a second life out of.  Maybe some of her dresses can now become shirts!
