Ok, so I'm a bit behind on posting so I guess I will just jump in head first and start with our 4th of July celebrations. (Hopefully blogger will cooperate and let me load all of my pictures!) First of all I want to start by saying that I love July and I love the 4th of July - it is my #2 holiday!
We traveled to Kanab (where Brandon grew up) for all the festivities there. Brandon's Mom and sister and her crew all live there so its alot of fun! I have to admit that small town 4th of July festivities are so fun! I also grew up in a small town in Missouri and I LOVED the 4th of July actitivities. I have lots of fun memories from those times. :)
First up on the agenda was the parade. Mya seemed to love it but really didn't pay much attention to it because she had so many cousins and friends to play around with.
After the parade we went to the community park where they have booths set up with cute stuff and food and such. It was pretty hot so we didn't stay long and I didn't get any pictures of this portion of our day.
Next up I wanted to take some family pictures since we all looked so cute in our red, white & blue but Mya had other plans as you can see from the pictures below. I had it all planned out in my mind for weeks all the cute pictures we would get. The scenery is so beautiful there so it makes for great photos. The sun was also a factor so the pictures turned out pretty bright and we all look even more pale than we really are. :)
So, the first picture turned out ok. Mya at least looks somewhat pleasant. She insisted on holding her new purse with puppy inside from Aunt Tiff's gift shop and her sunglasses. I look like a goober in this picture so I don't like it so much.
Then it just went downhill FAST! In this one Mya looks upset.
This one is my favorite. She is just so tired and cranky she just can't take it anymore. There goes my great idea of getting a nice family picture. Oh well, live and learn (note to self: never try to take nice pictures just before your childs naptime!!)
Later that night we went back to the city park for the fireworks. They have greatly improved over the years and are really pretty good. Mya only made it half way through until she got cranky again (oh, the joys of parenting a 1 1/2 year old!) so I took her to the car to watch a movie while everyone else watched the last part of the fireworks.
The next day we were over at Brandon's sister, Tiffany's house. Mya loved playing on the fun slide and trampoline and with all their cute baby kittens. We also tried to beat the heat and went for a swim in the new Kanab city pool! Fun times!
All in all it was a great weekend filled with lots of fun times and good memories. And I'm so thankful for our country and the freedoms that we have. :)

Why, oh why do these little people not get that we need them to be smiley and happy for family pictures?! Especially ones that have been thought about and planned for a very long time! I see the potential there, though, and I am sure it would have been a fabulous picture. :)
Don't you love how you try to plan everything perfectly - the hair and bows and every color-coordinating outfit and then the cute little toddler reminds you who's boss!
